INTERVIEWS WITH YOUTH

Video

I am interviewing children aged 9-15 for their thoughts on the horror genre. My research is about discovering what types of horror resonate with young people without adult opinions shaping the conversation. The responses so far have been eye‑opening, and more voices are welcome. If you’re a parent or gaurdian in the UK or Ireland with a child who loves horror, please get in touch at [email protected]I directed and produced the above trailer, What's Your Favourite Scary Movie? as a audio-visual call for participants.

DOCUMENTARY

Teenage Screams is a feature-length documentary and one half of my doctoral thesis that follows a group of British teenagers as they create their first horror short, The Final Variation. It is directed by 16-year-old Nia Matthews who is based in the West Midlands.Their film centres on a working‑class dancer who earns a coveted scholarship to an elite ballet academy, only to discover that the real choreography lies in navigating privilege, simmering rivalries, and the shadow of a suspicious death…The documentary is still seeking support for post-production via GoFundMe:

CHEVRONS

"When an Air Force troops tries to act on her taboo attraction to an officer, she slips into bonkers fantasies of romance and horror."Nominations & Awards: Tim Disney Prize for Excellence in the Storytelling Arts Honourable Mention, Official Selection for Best Screenplay at Scream Queen Film Festival, Crowdfunded with Seed&SparkChevrons is loosely inspired by the real experiences my friends and I had while enlisted in the US Air Force. Military stories are stuck in the same loop of war, PTSD, and trauma while the everyday realities, especially for people from diverse backgrounds, rarely get any spotlight. This horror rom‑com leans into those quieter terrors. For Airman Magat, the scariest thing isn’t on a battlefield, it’s the choice between forbidden love and the weight of duty.

ROSEBUD

"A celebrity podcaster has a romantic and steamy evening with a beautiful woman he’s been dating, but learns she is not who she seems."At 10-years-old, I daydreamed Ricky Martin would marry me. Those early fantasies made me reflect on the unhealthy ways we obsess over celebrities. This idea shaped Rosebud, and it was important to me that we cast a romantic lead with dwarfism to push back against the narrow, stereotypical image of who gets to be at the centre of a love story.Actor Colin Buckingham and I worked closely to ensure his character’s journey felt authentic and respectful to the lived experience of disability. Everyone deserves to see themselves in romance. At its core, the film explores the messy intersection of celebrity culture and fandom, how admiration can slip into objectification, and how the relationship between stars and their followers can be both symbiotic and unsettling.
